The Texas Rangers did not waste much time to keep their guy.

The Rangers and SP Martin Perez agreed on a four year extension to stay in Texas, with club options on the 2018-2020 seasons. As reported and tweeted by ESPN reporter, Richard Durrett:

Perez, 22, is now one of four pitchers the Rangers have signed through 2017, giving them stability in their starting rotation for the foreseeable future. Some believe this deal is great for Texas and their fans, as tweeted by Bob Nightengale here:

Baseball fans alike know that in an era where pitchers seem to wear down as they get into their 30’s(see Yankees’ ace C.C. Sabathia or former Phillies’ pitcher, Roy Halladay), it’s very important to lock up pitching, especially young pitching that has shown such promise as Perez has this past season. Perez here tweeted on the official Rangers twitter site:

With Perez and fellow starters: Matt Harrison, Derek Holland and all-star, staff ace, Yu Darvish, the Rangers boost one of the best, young staffs in the game as they will try to regain a playoff spot and reach their goal of getting back and winning the World Series in 2014.

Hot stove has kick off to a great start in Texas.
