Paula Deen, the Food Network star who is infamous for slathering everything in butter and is probably your idea of the perfect grandma, has lost 30 pounds and debuted her new bod on the cover of People Magazine recently.
The dieting came after Deen was on the receiving end of some backlash for sticking to high-carb fare even after being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. She says she misses potatoes–her favorite–but otherwise, the road to being healthy hasn’t been too difficult.
“I’m redoing the way my plate looks,” she said. “I’m doubling up on salad or vegetables and putting smaller portions of carbs and all that. I try to walk thirty minutes a day.”
She says she still allows herself occasional carb-treats but sticks to sweet potatoes and vegetables rather than her usual starch-filled diet.
“If you make a few small changes, they can add up to big results,” she said.
