The late actor, Patrick Swayze was known for his good looks, charming disposition but mostly his dance moves. His movement came to life most famously in the 80's hit, Dirty Dancing. And he had his mother, Patsy Swayze, to thank for that. She was a dancer and choreographer.
Patsy Swayze died Monday night at her home in Simi Valley, Calif., the Associated Press reports. The choreographer and dance instructor was 86 years old. The news of her passing came only two days after the fourth anniversary after her son's death.
Patsy taught dance at the University of Houston for 18 years, as well as being a choreographer for the Houston Playhouse Center and the Houston Youth Symphony and Ballet Company. Throughout her career she choreographed several popular movies including, Urban Cowboy, Liars Moon and Hope Floats.
Patrick wasn't the only one lucky enough to take dance lessons from his mother. She was teacher to other famous individuals like, Jaclyn Smith, Randy Quaid, Tommy Tune and Debbie Allen.
Patsy's husband, Jesse, passed in 1982 . Her daughter, Vickie, passed in 1994 and her son, Patrick, passed in 2009. She is survived by three children.
