Various details are starting to get sorted out for the upcoming presentation of the 2014 Oscars, although film fans could still be presented with a number of surprises on film’s biggest night.

The past year has been an incredibly competitive one for film, and has featured several films leading the way, with no real front-runner to take the stage. Who will end up taking the big awards?

Each of the nine films that are nominated for Best Picture this year have gained a lot of attention during awards season, and with less than a week to go until the big night, it is still hard to predict what will happen.

The list of presenters is now fully set, and features the addition of Emma Watson, who was added recently. The complete list features veterans such as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie along with many others, in addition to newcomers Michael B. Jordan and Zac Efron, who were both seen in the recent comedy That Awkward Moment.

In order to continue with the previous tradition, the many presenters will also be joined by last year’s winners Daniel Day-Lewis, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Lawrence, and Christoph Waltz to present the four acting categories. A total of 42 people will take the stage to present awards this Sunday.

As a part of the 2014 Oscars, the Oscar-nominated original songs will also be performed, which means that the hit song “Let It Go” from Frozen will be performed for the first time in front of a televised audience, with Idina Menzel singing it. The song has gained a great amount of attention, and has even spent a considerable amount of time on the BIllboard Hot 100.

This year’s awards have been split between several films in previous ceremonies in the 2014 season. The one thing that has remained constant for the most part has been Jared Leto winning the Best Supporting Actor award for his role in Dallas Buyers Club, and Matthew McConaughey has also grabbed multiple awards leading up to the Oscars for the same film. McConaughey could take it again, although Leonardo Dicaprio may also be able to get his first Oscar for his role in The Wolf of Wall Street.

The Oscar nominations are led by American Hustle, and while it won the Golden Globe for Best Picture-Musical or Comedy, 12 Years A Slave won the award for a dramatic film. The two films tied for the amount of nominations at the Golden Globes, and are joined by Gravity as the three most-nominated films at the Oscars.

American Hustle, 12 Years A Slave, and Gravityseem to be the top 3 films in the race for Best Picture, but none of them seem to have much of an edge each other. Other films have also been known to give fans a bit of a surprise on Oscar night, and that is unlikely, but it has certainly happened before. For example, in 2005, everyone thought Brokeback Mountain would win Best Picture, and Crash ended up winning the award.

After Seth MacFarlane’s much-criticized hosting job, Ellen Degeneres will be returning to host the show after hosting once in 2007. The awards will be presented during the live televised event on Sunday, March 2nd. The show will begin at 8:30 p.m. ET, following the Red Carpet coverage that begins at 7 p.m. ET.
