Like a searing silver bullet from God piercing the most notorious vampire must be the rejection that Kim Kardashian felt when an impoverished orphan from Thailand denied her prospects of adoption.
Kim, who was visiting Thailand in April to film for her hit show Keeping Up With The Kardashians, stopped by the Home and Life Foundation in Thailand’s Phang Nga Province, a region that suffered from the 2004 tsunami which took more than 4,000 lives.
It was there that she met Pink (not the singer), a 13-year-old orphan whose mother sent her to the home because she didn’t have enough money to raise her or fund her education.
Originally, Pink, whose real name is Laddawan Tong-Keaw, was thrilled at the idea that multi-millionaire Kim Kardashian wanted to adopt her, but she ultimately declined the famous celebrity’s hand that would have lead her to the promised land of America, a place where she would be graced into a life of privilege, luxury, and Kanye West.
Pink, who shares a mattress on a floor with five other girls, told the Daily Mail, “When I found out she wanted to adopt me, I was shaking. I was so excited. It would be such a change of life for me.”
Instead, Pink decided it was best to stay in her impoverished homeland so she could help to better the lives of the people and orphans she grew up with.
Concerning the decline, Pink said, “Everyone wants to have a different or a better life, I suppose. But when I thought about it I realized it wouldn’t be good for me, because I would have to leave so much behind. I wasn’t ready for that.”
Kim expressed her excitement on video at the prospect of adopting Pink, telling reporters, “I literally cannot stop thinking about her. I told Kanye, I was like, honestly, this girl is so sweet and so cute, like, I would honestly adopt her.”
Pink plans on going to a university in Thailand, then work as a tour guide or a teacher: “I want to help my country,’ she said. ‘I want people to come and learn about Thailand and understand more about my country. That is why I am thinking of being a tour guide.”
