In the rapidly evolving landscape of cloud security, Orca Security has emerged as a significant player, distinguishing itself through innovation and a developer-centric approach. Speaking at the RSA Conference (RSAC) 2025 in San Francisco, Orca Security’s CEO Gil Geron shared insights on the company’s growth strategy, technological innovations, and market positioning.
Market Dynamics and Competitive Edge
Geron attributes Orca’s success in a fiercely competitive market to their unwavering focus on security fundamentals and continuous innovation. “Our approach of focusing on security and focusing on securing our customers and continuing to push on innovation to increase productivity in security allows us to excel and allow us to push the market forward,” Geron explained during his RSAC interview.
The cloud security provider has been capitalizing on opportunities created by recent merger and acquisition activities in the cybersecurity sector. According to Geron, customers are increasingly seeking best-in-breed cloud security partners, and Orca’s position as “the single most largest and advanced platform that is independent creates a lot of opportunity for us.”
This assessment aligns with industry observations, as Orca Security’s market capitalization reached an impressive $214 billion as of April 2025, according to Contrary Research.
The AI Revolution in Cloud Security
Like many industry leaders at RSAC 2025, Geron emphasized the transformative potential of artificial intelligence, particularly agentic and generative AI, in enhancing security operations.
“What we are seeing is that customers are looking for ways to increase productivity, and agentic AI and AI is an opportunity to do so,” Geron noted. He highlighted how Orca is leveraging these technologies to help security teams “expand without expanding cost” through capabilities like code release recommendations, automated remediation suggestions, and prioritization of security concerns.
Beyond implementing AI in its own solutions, Orca is also helping customers manage “AI sprawl” in their environments, addressing one of the emerging challenges of widespread AI adoption.
Strategic Partnerships Fueling Growth
Partnership strategy remains fundamental to Orca’s business model. “We’ve been a partner first from day one and we’ve been doubling down on that strategy all the time,” Geron stated, emphasizing that “security is a team player.”
The company has formed strategic alliances with complementary security providers like Snyk and Aqua Security, as well as major cloud service providers including AWS, Azure, and GCP. These partnerships enable customers to implement best-of-breed security solutions while benefiting from integrated capabilities.
Orca Security’s approach to cloud defense will be showcased at their upcoming Cloud Security Live 2025 event, where the company will continue its mission of helping “organizations thrive securely in the cloud.”
Developer Engagement and Technological Innovation
A significant milestone for Orca has been surpassing 60,000 developers using their platform. Geron views this achievement as “phenomenal” because it advances the company’s goal of embedding security considerations early in the application development process.
“We want engineers, we want organizations as they are building their applications to be minded to security,” Geron explained. “The more we expand with developers, the better we are off in elevating securities in companies in the cloud.”
One of Orca’s key technological differentiators is its status as “the first agentless static reachability analysis solution.” Unlike competitors focused primarily on expanding detection capabilities, Orca prioritizes productivity by helping security teams identify which vulnerabilities actually matter.
Geron provided a striking example of this approach’s impact: “We’ve seen trim down in environments from 250 million vulnerabilities to 10,000 and then to only six images that I need to fix today.” This dramatic reduction in scope—from millions of theoretical vulnerabilities to a handful requiring immediate attention—exemplifies Orca’s focus on actionable security.
As cloud environments continue to grow in complexity, Orca Security’s emphasis on visibility, developer integration, and practical prioritization positions the company to address the evolving needs of organizations seeking to secure their cloud infrastructure without sacrificing operational efficiency.
