One Direction–Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik–made the list of nominees for the 2014 Radio Disney Music Awards. The nominees were announced on Sunday. One Direction was also named last week as one of the major nominees for the upcoming Kids’ Choice Awards, too.
One Direction received a nomination for Best Music Group where they’ll compete against both Emblem3 and R5. They were also nominated for Song of the Year for their hit song Best Song Ever. Competition is even stiffer for this award, as Katy Perry’s Roar and Selena Gomez’s Come & Get It were both nominated as well.
Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik are likely the most popular boy band to come out of Britain since The Beatles. They are received in much the same way as The Beatles were when they toured–with screaming and fainting girls clamoring for a glimpse or an autograph. They have seen several big hits since they burst on to the music scene, including What Makes You Beautiful and Little Things.
One Direction will learn whether or not they’ve won one of the Radio Disney Music Awards for which they’ve been nominated when the event takes place at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on April 27th. It will be broadcast live on the Disney Channel at 8 PM.
Here are some of the other Radio Disney Music Awards categories and nominees:
Best Male Artist–Austin Mahone, Cody Simpson, and Justin Timberlake
Best Female Artist–Katy Perry, Demi Lovato, and Taylor Swift
Best Crush Song–Chloe, Still into You, and What About Love
Artist With the Best Style–Austin Mahone, Becky G, and Zendaya
Fans can vote for One Direction, as well as for the other nominees, by visiting Radio Disney’s Facebook or their Twitter and Instagram pages. 1D fans are known for supporting the boy band wholeheartedly. Their faithful fan base might be the catalyst behind at least one win at this year’s event.
