Olivia Newton-John can now put all the drama and mess of her missing (ex)boyfriend behind her.
Olivia Newton-John‘s former boyfriend mysteriously went missing on an overnight fishing trip back in 2005. It was reported that he had fallen off the boat, ironically named “Freedom”, and was presumed drowned when no body was discovered.
Now, Olivia Newton-John‘s ex has been found alive and well, living in Mexico with a German girlfriend.
His name, Patrick McDermott, was changed back to his birth name, Patrick Kim, and it was discovered that he declared bankruptcy and withdrew all of his savings right before the fishing trip.
Investigator John Nazarian reported to Woman’s Day, “It’s rumored he was with a German national. I spoke to people there. The girl he was traveling with was described as having a German accent.”
He added, “To come up with the conclusion that he fell off the boat, and allegedly no-one saw him fall off the boat, is the most preposterous thing I’ve ever heard in my life.”
Kim was known to probably be alive since only months after his alleged “death”, but it wasn’t confirmed until 2009.
That’s when another investigator working for the show Dateline in 2010 received a fax from Olivia Newton-John’s boyfriend, which read, “Pat has asked that I portray to you his innocence. Pat has committed no crime. Pat simply wishes to be left alone.”
It went on, “Let him live his life in peace and harmony. He is safe and has started anew again in a new place both physically and mentally. Stop this search immediately.”
This is a seriously crazy and upsetting turn of events for Olivia Newton-John, but who hasn’t dreamed of disappearing to Mexico and starting a new life?
Luckily, Olivia Newton-John moved on with her life back in 2008 when she married natural remedy company founder John Easterling in a private ceremony in Peru.
