Olivia Munn is heading to the CW for a new show about an female sportscaster in the 1970s.
Munn will produce and co-write the show, which is yet-to-be titled, alongside The Good Wife‘s Ted Humphrey.
The Hollywood Reporter describes the plot as such:
Set in 1974, the drama revolves around a young journalist who gets hired by an ambitious New York news programming chief as a publicity stunt to be one of the first female on-air sports reporters. She then has to learn to navigate gender politics in front of and behind the camera at a time when women were literally not even allowed in the press box.
“Moving behind the camera now! Excited about selling my first show!” Munn wrote on Instagram.
Munn is no stranger to the world of sports or the world of journalism – both on camera and in her real life.
Before she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career, Munn worked as an intern at a Tulsa NBC affiliate. She also worked as a sideline reporter for Fox Sports Net. You, of course, know her as a correspondent on The Daily Show and as a financial reporter on HBO’s now-completed drama The Newsroom.
