Indie developer Young Horses today announced that Octodad: Dadliest Catch will be coming to PC and Mac on January 30. The game will be available through Steam, GOG, and the new Humble Store.
Dadliest Catch is the sequel to the original Octodad, released in 2010. Like the original, players will have to deal with the daily life of a family man who also happens to be an octopus in disguise. The game will put players into silly situations in which they will have to use their flexible appendages to complete tasks while maintaining their cover.
The original Octodad was created by DePaul University students who entered the game into the 2011 Independent Games Festival. After winning numerous awards at the show Octodad went on to become a cult success, and its creators eventually went on to form Young Horses.
In addition to the PC version release date, Young Horses also teased that the PlayStation 4 version of Dadliest Catch should be coming sometime around March. The game has been highlighted repeatedly by Sony as part of its indie-friendly marketing for the PS4.
@TheWineman Right now we’re planning for a March release. But really it’s just as soon as we can finish it up.
