Nutcracker Ballet Gets A Google Doodle (Not A Knowledge Graph Result)

Google is running a doodle on its UK homepage today honoring the classic holiday ballet The Nutcracker. Interestingly, there is no Knowledge Graph result on display when you click over to Google’s search results. Perhaps ballet is on the list of things Google would like to eventually add.

Google is taking it upon itself to assume you’re not looking for this animated film version of The Nutcracker, which it sells on YouTube, I guess, because usually when there’s a movie, you’ll see a Knowledge Graph result at least mentioned, like this one for Cinderella:

Knowledge Graph for Cinderella

There is a Wikipedia entry for The Nutcracker, like Cinderella, so it would seem reasonable to display a similar style of results for that.

We are in the early days of Google’s Knowledge Graph, of course, so it’s entirely possible that Google will have such a result in the future.

There have actually been a number of works based on The Nutrcracker. Wikipedia has a nice round up of them here.

If you search for just “nutcracker” in the U.S., you will get a nice set of Google Shopping results for nut cracking devices.
