The Wii U’s first year on the market has not been the best. Nintendo’s own efforts to produce software for the console has been impeded by delays, and third parties have been dropping support for the console within its first year. Things are finally looking up, however, as Nintendo has a string of big releases throughout the end of the year, and it even has a new bundle for the holidays.
Nintendo of America revealed today that it will be launching a new Wii U deluxe set that ditches Nintendo Land in favor of New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U. Both games will be on one disc, and represent some of the best games the Wii U has to offer.
“Mario and Luigi are two of the biggest heroes in video games,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “This new Wii U configuration gives people instant access to not one, but two of the most well-received Wii U games. It’s another example of the tremendous value and variety that Nintendo is offering consumers this holiday season.”
The new Wii U bundle will go on sale starting November 1 for $300. For those who still want Nintendo Land, Nintendo is dropping the price of the standalone game to $30. It still remains one of the best examples of what the Wii U is capable of.
Oh, and remember that Wii U bundle that came with The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD and a digital copy of Hyrule Historia? Nintendo says it’s still available while supplies last. It’s hard to say if that means Nintendo will phase it out once the New Super Mario Bros. U bundle launches, but those looking for the Wind Waker Wii U bundle might want to act now.
