  • In March, Nikki Reed announced that she and her husband, former American Idol contestant, Paul McDonald were separating. Now, TMZ has exclusively revealed that Nikki has officially filed divorce papers, ending any hope of reconciliation.

This was the first marriage for both Reed and McDonald, who were married on July 14, 2011, and they have no children together. They met on the set of Little Red Riding Hood and instantly hit it off. “We couldn’t be happier! We’re so glad this day has come!” Nikki said after their wedding.

According to court documents, Reed cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce and is asking the judge to deny McDonald spousal support. Despite the ending of their marriage, the couple vows to stay close friends and are continuing to work on their album together titled I’m Not Falling, which is scheduled to debut sometime this year.

“After much consideration, Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald are ending their marriage,” Reed’s rep told US Weekly in a statement at the time of the separation. “They will continue to share their love of music, and are still working on their debut album, I’m Not Falling, releasing in 2014. They remain best friends and look forward to their continued journey together.”

Nikki is currently rumored to be dating Julianne Hough’s brother Derek Hough. Speculation around the possible couple started after they were spotted on a double date with Julianne and her boyfriend Brooks Laich. Derek and Nikki have not commented on the rumors.
