A woman who was held against her will for six months was rescued over the weekend after she was able to send out a message on Facebook.

26-year old Sheena Herschbach told police she was threatened and beaten by ex-boyfriend Jason Edward Greniger during the six months he kept her at a motel in Mesquite, Nevada, and was only allowed to leave occasionally to go to the store. However, Greniger let her go to the library last week, where she was able to post a message on Facebook to let her friends know she was okay but in trouble.

“I just want to let every one know I’m sarry I whant to come home but he wont let me yes Jason don’t knoe im online in mesquet novata at the mv motel,” she wrote.

Herschbach says she and Greniger had a long and troubled past and that he was violent with her and their three children. He pleaded guilty in 2013 to malicious punishment of a child under the age of 4, and eventually Herschbach left him. However, he followed her when she moved to California and convinced her to take him back. When he decided to make her come with him to Nevada, he threatened to kill her family in order to get her to comply. After months of abuse at the motel–which they managed together–Herschbach said she’d finally had it.

“He finally pushed me for the last time,” said Herschbach. “I just said the heck with it. I went to the library, went online and talked to my sister.”

Police were able to track down the couple and rescue Herschbach, who is finally able to contact her family again. Sadly, her mother passed away in December.

Greniger is being held without bond due to an outstanding warrant from Minnesota.
