Netflix is making a move to add more content to its streaming lineup, this time in the form of indie films from an arm of The Weinstein Company.

Today, Netflix and RADiUs-TWC are announcing a multi-year deal to bring a bunch of new independent films to Netflix subscribers by the beginning of 2013.

“We are delighted to be extending our relationship again with TWC, incorporating the cutting edge and crowd-pleasing movies distributed by RADiUS,” said Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos. “Weinstein movies like this year’s Academy Award winning best picture “The Artist” and the biggest French box office hit ever “The Intouchables” are coming to Netflix in the next few months and we are looking forward to having the RADiUS titles soon after.”

Although TWC is known for its bigger-budget and Oscar-winning films, RADiUs-TWC is making some attention-grabbing indie films with some big name casts.

Coming to Netflix is the film “Bachelorette” starring Kirsten Dunst and Isla Fisher (it just released on demand and on iTunes on August 10th). Also, “Only God Forgives,” directed by Nicolas Winding Refn who gave us last year’s best films, “Drive.” – and “Details” starring Tobey Maguire, Elizabeth Banks, Ray Liotta, and Laura Linney.

Although the RADiUS deal is only good news for U.S. Netflix viewers, the company is making impressive leaps in other markets across the world. Earlier this week, they announced that they had hit the 1 million members mark in the UK & Ireland, only seven months after launching there. And the week before that, we learned that the company is planning on an expansion into Scandinavia later this year.
