Netflix has been hyping up its new show Marco Polo for quite some time, and as of today, the title is finally available for streaming.

The description is as follows:

"Marco Polo" is an epic adventure that follows the early years of the famous explorer as he travels the exotic Silk Road to the great Kublai Khan’s court. But Marco soon finds that navigating the Khan’s world of greed, betrayal, sexual intrigue and rivalry will be his greatest challenge yet, even as he becomes a trusted companion to the Khan in his violent quest to become the Emperor of the World.

Early reviews have been mixed, but seemingly trending toward the negative. We've seen it referred to multiple times as something like Netflix's attempt to rip off Game of Thrones. Frankly, I don't really buy too much into most reviews, because one man's trash is another's treasure, and people can decide for themselves if they like it. Now people can actually do so, and not have to rely on random Internet critics' opinions.

Netflix is pretty good at finding content that audiences will connect with. It has a tremendous amount of viewer data that it uses when deciding to go forward with shows in the first place. While a show may not appeal to every audience, it may find its niche. Time will tell if Marco Polo finds its audience.

Netflix released this featurette about Marco Polo earlier this week if you want to give it a look.
