Netflix announced today that it has signed an exclusive multi-year streaming deal with Twentieth Century Fox Television to stream the Fox comedy New Girl, starring Zooey Deschanel.
The first season of the show hits Netflix today, and Netflix will get each season after it airs on TV.
“New Girl has proven to be the biggest breakout sitcom hit of the season and we are thrilled to be able offer it so quickly to our U.S. subscribers,” said Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos. “We know our members love comedies and that they’ll enjoy watching all the current and future episodes of New Girl whenever and wherever they want.”
“We are delighted that Netflix viewers will now have the opportunity to enjoy this remarkable comedy,” said Gina Brogi, Executive Vice President, Worldwide Pay Television and Subscription Video on Demand, Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution. “As a leader in digital distribution, Netflix is an important partner for us. We are thrilled to continue building our relationship with them.”
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
New Girl has already been renewed for a third season on Fox.
