Netflix has reportedly acquired the U.S. rights to The Honourable Woman, a spy thriller miniseries from the BBC starring Maggie Gyllenhall.
This is according to The Hollywood Reporter, which says BBC Worldwide has also made deals with Canada’s CBC, Spain’s Canal Plus, Norway’s TV2, and Israel’s Hot for the series in those countries.
The miniseries is eight parts, and was written and directed by Hugo Blick for the BBC and SundanceTV. It aired on BBC Two in the U.K. and on SundanceTV in the U.S. in July.
Other cast members include: Andrew Buchan, Stephen Rea, Lubna Azabal, Janet McTeer, Katherine Parkinson, Tobias Menzies, Eve Best, Yigal Naor, Genevieve O’Reilly, and Lindsay Duncan.
The Honourable Woman debuted to high praise in the U.K., with The Guardian calling it “the most satisfying, densely plotted TV series for years.”
It’s unclear when the miniseries will debut on Netflix.
