  • Davy Jones, Monkees frontman died in Florida from a massive heart attack at the age of sixty-six on February 29th. There was no sign of illness according to a statement and Jones had been spending the weekend with his family and wife, Jessica Pacheco. The funeral for the well-known singer is planned for today, Wednesday, March 7th.

Micky Dolenz, Monkees bandmate said he and fellow Monkees were not likely to attend the funeral. “My understanding is they want to avoid a media circus and the family wants to keep it very, very low-key and very, very private. And you can imagine as soon as one or two of us were to show up, it would very quickly be degraded into something that I don’t think his immediate family would want to deal with.” The family plans to cremate the singer’s body.

Dolenz also added that he hoped Davy’s passing would bring the surviving Monkees including Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork back together again. There are memorials being planned for the “Day Dream Believer” in New York City and in the United Kingdom that will be available to the public.
