Molly O’Malia, the 14-year-old aspiring model and singer who OK! magazine claims came between Kylie Jenner and Tyga–possibly even causing their November split–has retained attorney Gloria Allred in a case against the publication.

OK! allegedly published a poorly-pixilated photo of Molly O’Malia, as well as screen shots of her social media conversations with Tyga. That’s when they blamed O’Malia for coming between the rapper and Kylie Jenner.

During a press conference in New York City on Monday, Molly O’Malia gave her account of the situation.

“Even though OK! magazine pixelated my face and did not use my name, a lot of people could tell it was me. As a result of the story and the photo, I received a lot of negative attention, not only from people in my own state but from all over the place. I don’t deserve the negative attention I have been getting as a result of this photo. I would never have allowed OK magazine or any other magazine to use them. I am speaking out today because I don’t want what happened to me to happen to any other young girls,” she said.

Molly O’Malia continued, telling the press that she and Tyga were in contact via social media only, and that she ended their correspondence when he suggested they meet in person.

“The truth is that Tyga contacted me first. He direct messaged me on Instagram. I knew who he was but I was surprised that he was contacting me,” she said in a statement. “I thought that it could possibly be about my music, but he did not mention that in his initial communication with me. I thought that was strange, but I was thinking he would bring that up in his next message to me. However, he didn’t mention it in the next message.”

“I began to feel uncomfortable when he asked me to FaceTime with him,” she continued. “He asked me to FaceTime 3 times, but I did not do it. Because of my discomfort with why he wanted to communicate with me I quickly stopped responding to him. It’s crazy how so much can come out of nothing.”

Molly O’Malia’s mother, Anne Lowry O’Malia, issued a statement to the media, too, criticizing OK! magazine for “falsely [insinuating] that there was an inappropriate sexually suggestive relationship going on between Tyga and Molly.”

Tyga is presently on a ski vacation with Kylie Jenner, according to People magazine. His relationship with the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star has long raised eyebrows because Jenner was only 17 when it began. Mom Kris Jenner had no problem with the two pursuing the relationship, however.

Hopefully Molly O’Malia serves as an excellent example of how carried away social media “relationships” can become. Parents should be well aware of scenarios like this one and closely monitor their teens and their communications online.

It will be interesting to hear OK! magazine’s response to the allegations Gloria Allred has filed.

Might this scenario mark the beginning of the end for Kylie Jenner and Tyga now that Molly O’Malia has come forward with her story?
