On Friday night, December 20, Alex Johnson disappeared.

Alex is a “trustworthy” and “dependable” 32-year old who works as a chef at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. But when he didn’t show up for a work meeting on Saturday, Dec. 21, his family knew something was wrong.

“It’s completely out of character. He would never go more than a few hours without calling his girlfriend or family,” Cayce Johnson, Alex’s sister, said. “He’s never missed a work meeting or Christmas with his family.”

According to The Huffington Post, Alex returned home after work on Friday with plans to meet friends later that evening. While on the phone with his girlfriend, the mystery began.

“He was on the phone with her when someone came to the door,” Cayce said. “He told her he would call her back later and he never did.”

On Monday, December 23, Alex did not show up for a preplanned shopping trip with his family in Bowling Green, KY. That is when confusion turned to fear for Cayce and the rest of the family.

“When he did not arrive that’s when we really knew something was wrong…He was really looking forward to coming home for Christmas” she said.

Today, Alex’s car still sits at his home and cellphone records show that he has not used his phone since Friday night, Dec. 20, when he last spoke to his girlfriend.

Cayce told the Huffington Post that Alex had no known enemies or desire to take off and leave.

“He’s a really great guy. He never met anyone he didn’t like and he never met anyone that didn’t like him. He is deeply loved by friends and family,” she said.

Lexington Police continue to question people and search for clues in a case they describe as “suspicious.”

“I want my brother back,” Cayce said. “My parents, they need their son back. They’re just, they’re completely heartbroken. We all are. Our lives have just been turned upside down.”

Alex Johnson is approximately 6 feet tall, 150 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes.

A Facebook page has been set up to aide in the mysterious quest to find Alex.
