You may remember Minecon, the official convention for all things Minecraft, from last year. The convention took place in Las Vegas and Notch officially pushed Minecraft out of beta at the event. Since then, Notch has expressed wanting to hold the next Minecon in Europe. His choice for this year is France.
That’s right, Minecon 2012 will be held in Disneyland Paris. The French version of the most magical place on earth will be hosting the convention for the most magical indie game for the PC. It seems like a match made in heaven.
Check out the humorous announcement video:
Minecon 2012 will take place on November 24 and 25 at Disneyland Paris. Mojang will announce details soon including ticket sales and hotel registration. Last year’s Minecon drew about 5,000 people to Las Vegas for the event. It remains to be seen how much bigger this year’s event is going to be.
If you’re disappointed that it’s not being held in the U.S. again, worry not. I would wager a guess that Minecon 2013 will return to the states. Minecraft has fans all over the world while Mojang is based in Europe. It only makes sense to make Minecon accessible to both parts of the world every other year.
