Mindy Kaling may be up to something. Figuring out what that is could be the tough part.
Mindy Kaling’s show, The Mindy Project, was canceled this week. That news came as a stunner to her fans who tuned in every week to see their favorite girl as Mindy Lahiri.
But then Mindy Kaling posted a short video to Instagram that seemed to poke fun at the news that her show had been canned. In the video (posted below) she gives the camera a big wink. The caption says, “Hey guys, I’m in Montana, is anything happening in LA?”
She also captioned with the hashtag #themindyproject. Fans commented that this was some sort of tease that her show may not be entirely gone. Time will tell if there is anything to that, but some had guesses.
“she knows what’s up…. Moving to the Hulu fo sho”
“So many people loves MINDY! I’ll follow wherever you go! I might end up subscribing to HuLu”
But Mindy Kaling did do the InStyle cover for June. In the interview that accompanied the piece, she revealed that she is still a pretty well-grounded person. Still, she has her “diva moments.”
āMy diva moments are more tied to panicky worry,ā Kaling, 35, says. ā[My assistant] will have prepared everything for a day and then that morning, I wake up and Iām like, āI donāt want to do any of that; it has to be completely different.ā But I donāt throw hairbrushes at people or anything like that. I havenāt gotten there yet.ā
Yet, she also says she is very influenced by what she sees other people wearing.
āI think Iām very susceptible [to other peopleās style],ā she says. āWeāll have someone like Laura Dern on the show, and Iāll see what sheās wearing, and Iām just like, āOK, well, thatās obviously the way you should dress.ā Or Iāll meet some cool actress who only wears Helmut Lang and Vince, and Iām like āUgh! That looks amazing and chic and everything coordinates with everything and I need to get, like, a ratty T-shirt.ā I love fashion and I love clothes.ā
Much to her fans’ delight, she expounded on the nature of her relationship with B.J. Novak.
āI will freely admit: My relationship with B.J. Novak is weird as hell,ā she says. āHe is not my boyfriend, but he is not my best friend. I guess you could describe our relationship as a āromantically charged camaraderie with loud arguments,ā but I donāt think Facebook would accept this as a new status.ā
