  • Mick Jagger has a lot to be proud about! The 70-year-old rock star is now a great-grandfather.

According to the Daily Mail, Jagger’s grand-daughter Assisi Jackson welcomed a baby girl over the weekend. The new baby is the first for Jackson and her boyfriend, chef Alex Key. The new addition to the family also makes Jagger’s daughter Jade a first-time grandmother.

However, the little girl isn’t the only addition the famous family has been expecting. Jade and her husband Adrian Fillary are also expecting a little boy next month. During a brief interview with Hello! magazine, Jackson shared her sentiments of becoming a mother at 21.

“The women in our family just tend to have children young, it runs in the genes,” Jackson said. “I grew up quite quickly and wouldn’t have considered having a child if I was doing what my friends are doing at this stage, messing around,” she added. “I don’t drink, I don’t smoke and I’m very settled.”

Jade also shared her opinion of her daughter embracing motherhood. “She’ll be a perfect mum,” said Jade. “Assisi is a level-headed, sweet girl and I think it will give them both a lot of pleasure. It gives you an amazing purpose in life, to fulfill nature’s destiny.”

The joyous announcement comes just two months after the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s girlfriend, L’Wren Scott committed suicide. On March 18, the Rolling Stones front-man took to Facebook with a heartwarming message about his lost love.

“I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way.We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves.”

Hopefully the little bundles of joy will be a breath of fresh air in light of Jagger’s most recent loss.
