Michael Jackson Death: Anniversary Heightens Hologram Rumors

Since Michael’s death in 2009, fans have traveled from all over the world to pay their respects at his former home, Neverland Ranch. The property is now privately owned, but on days like today, when his legacy is felt perhaps more than any other time of year, fans can’t resist paying tribute.

Today marks the three-year anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death, and coincidentally, his brothers have just kicked off their Unity Tour, which opened in Louisville on the 18th. Since Jackie has said that there is a very real possibility that Michael could join them on the next tour in hologram form, fans are clamoring for confirmation.

Jackson’s adoring fans haven’t let their love or interest die down a bit since his death, and now that the technology is clearly here–and after the huge success of the Tupac hologram at this year’s Coachella– they want to see a hologram of the King of Pop. His brothers are already planning a second tour, to be carried out after the release of their new album next year, and say there’s a very real possibility that a hologram will be incorporated into the show.

“It could have Michael—absolutely,” he said. “Wouldn’t that be wonderful? As a matter of fact, we had that idea two years ago for Michael’s Cirque du Soleil show.”

Now that at least one Jackson brother has hinted at an interest in it, fans are hungry for more. But the idea begs the question of which era of Michael’s style to evoke; with the change of each decade, his style and appearance changed dramatically, and each album can be associated with a different look. Some think his hologram should reflect the younger version of himself, while others want to see him as he was when they saw him last. No matter what the outcome, however, a hologram of such a musical icon will no doubt be appreciated by millions.
