Actress Melanie Griffith visited the Honda Center in Anaheim, California with reality TV star Kris Jenner to see the Dalai Lama.
The two friends were invited as VIP guests during a multi-day meeting held for the spiritual leader's birthday on Monday.
Taking advantage of their privilege, the two women took a selfie with the spiritual leader who has held his post since 1950.
However, the Buddhist religious leader of Tibet seemed unaware of the photo-taking, which was seen by millions of Jenner's Instagram followers.
In the photo uploaded on Instagram, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star was in front and Griffith was behind her.
Tenzin Gyatso, or more widely known as the Dalai Lama had his back turned on Griffith and Jenner as he was busy with the Global Compassion Summit, which was attended by almost 18,000 people.
The reality TV star posted the photo with the hash tags #turnaroundlookbehindyou #greatmorning #MelanieGriffith, saying that Griffith was thrilled to meet the celebrated religious head and Nobel Peace Prize winner.
The Kardashian matriarch uploaded another photo taken during the event, showing only the Dalai Lama.
In the second picture, Jenner labelled it "'His Holiness The Dalai Lama" and further added that she felt privileged meeting the famed spiritual leader.
Afterwards, the two posed for a photo showing only the two of them and their VIP passes.
This time, it was Griffith who uploaded the photo and just tagged Jenner, claiming the two of them just met the Holy leader.
The event attended by Griffith and Jenner not only celebrated the spiritual leader's birthday but also discussed issues dealing with kindness and sympathy as well as climate change.
The Dalai Lama will proceed to New York City on Thursday for more speaking commitments.
