  • Megan Fox is set to star in the hit Fox series New Girl for several episodes while Zooey Deschanel is out on maternity leave.

Deschanel and hubby Jacob Pechenki welcomed a baby girl in August, and she plans to enjoy some time at home as a new mom.

A new report says Megan Fox will appear starting with episode six of the upcoming season of New Girl. Zooey Deschanel’s character Jess will find herself on sequestered during jury duty. During that chunk of time, Megan Fox’s character will rent out Jess’ room. Fox plays “Reagan,” a character described as a “gorgeous, straight-shooting pharmaceutical sales rep who comes to town on business and shakes things up in the loft.”

New Girl executive producer Liz Meriwether is excited to have Megan Fox on board.

“It’s insane to me that such a gorgeous person can be so funny, but I guess we just all have to accept it,” she says. “I’ve been a fan of her comedic skills since This is 40, and I’m so excited to have her on the show. We had Megan in mind when we wrote this part – she’s the perfect person to come in and shake these guys up.”

The role on New Girl will mark the first time in about 10 years that Megan Fox has starred in a TV series–her last being Hope & Faith.

This will make for a very busy time for Megan Fox, as she will juggle starring in New Girl with filming the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel.

How do you expect New Girl fans might react to Megan Fox filling in for Zooey Deschanel while she enjoys her maternity leave?
