Though the Battlefield and Call of Duty franchises seem to be the two sides gamers are taking in the war for multiplayer war-simulation supremacy, there are other first person shooters with entertaining multiplayer. Sure, there’s going to be Halo 4 in a few weeks, but there’s also EA’s other modern war game, Medal of Honor Warfighter.
Much like Battlefield and Call of Duty, Medal of Honor began as a World War II shooter. As killing Nazi’s has fallen out of vogue, the franchise has followed others in updating its war simulation to reflect modern (meaning brown and dusty) combat.
Today, Danger Close and EA released a multiplayer launch trailer for Warfighter. It looks nearly identical to the other war-simulation multiplayer modes in the gaming world, complete with lens flares. That’s probably a good thing, though, since those are the types of games that are currently selling millions of copies.
The real question players will have about Warfighter‘s multiplayer is how fun it is. Are the maps and weapons balanced? Are the perks useful? Is the ranking system worth grinding away at? If the answer to these questions is yes, Medal of Honor Warfighter could have a chance to compete with Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
