Having sought out new faces for her Pop perfume campaign, Stella McCartney chose Lourdes Leon as one of a handful of new models. This marks the first time the 19-year-old has put herself in the media spotlight.
“I have a lot of people judging my every move,” Leon–who goes by Lola–says in an interview with Vogue. “It’s important for me to not let it rule my life.”
The Pop perfume campaign promotes “self-acceptance and positive mutual support,” and in a world where body shaming is way too common, the feel of the campaign appealed to Lourdes Leon.
“I go through this struggle myself, [where] women’s bodies have been made so public that everyone feels like they need to comment,” she says.
When asked what she thinks about the campaign’s be-true-to-yourself message of creativity and individuality, she says, “I love when someone doesn’t pretend to be someone they are not.”
Lourdes Leon may one day follow in Madonna’s footsteps. She is honing her singing and dancing skills at the University of Michigan.

In the meantime, she steps gingerly into the spotlight her mom wholeheartedly embraces.
This Stella McCartney campaign might become the first of many for Lourdes Leon.
Do you expect she will one day follow her famous mom onto the concert stage or might she stick with modeling instead?
