Ever since the release of Demon’s Souls in 2009, gamers have been clamoring for more hardcore action RPGs that push their skills to the limit. Now a Western RPG developer is taking their crack at the Souls formula.

Lords of the Fallen, an upcoming hardcore Western action RPG from CI Games, has been shrouded in mystery since its announcement last year. While we’ve heard quite a bit about the game, we almost went a year without seeing any gameplay. With the game coming out later this year, the developers are now beginning to show off some gameplay.

In the below trailer, you’ll get to see some pre-alpha gameplay from the beginning of Lords of the Fallen. It will introduce you to the world, some of the combat and the very first boss. You’ll also get to hear the first details on how magic and exploration will work.

Lords of the Fallen will launch later this year on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
