Lindsay Lohan filed a defamation case against Fox News, claiming the news network had tarnished her reputation. On Friday, a judge threw the case out.

It was back in February when Lindsay Lohan and mom Dina Lohan filed the suit, alleging that Sean Hannity and guest Michelle Fields made comments about the mother-daughter duo doing drugs together.

At that time, Lindsay Lohan’s attorney said that Fields “falsely, inappropriately, and shockingly stated, unequivocally and as a ‘matter of fact’ that ‘Lindsay Lohan’s mother is doing cocaine with her.'”

When the judge threw the case out on Friday, he slammed Lindsay Lohan and her mom saying, “truth is a defense.”

In the network’s defense were audio tapes of Lindsay Lohan calling her dad, Michael Lohan, saying “Mom’s on cocaine.”

Fox News issued a formal apology to both Dina and Lindsay Lohan following the broadcast in question, saying, Fields’ comment was a “claim they couldn’t verify.”

“The remark about which Lindsay and Dina Lohan complained was made on live television by a guest nearly a year ago,” a rep for Fox News told Us Weekly . “We removed the segment from our archives altogether last February and also apologized on-air. At that time, the Lohans did not make any demands for money, and we are surprised they are doing so now.”

Were Lindsay Lohan and her mom truly defamed by Fox News? Or are they simply using their money to sue their way out of another uncomfortable situation?

Are you surprised the judge threw out this case?

Wouldn’t it be nice to see Lindsay Lohan in the news for something positive, like a possible revamping of her career?

What’s the chance that fans (does she have any left?) will one day see that day?
