Linda Cardellini has been confirmed as a guest star on “New Girl” for 2014, and although it’s not clear yet how many episodes she’ll appear in, the role is a recurring one.
Cardellini will be playing Abby, Jess’ “wild” sister, which could lead to all sorts of crazy story lines with any one of the roommates. Her character is described as “the wild-child sister who brings a real Springer energy to every situation,” and she gets arrested in at least one episode.
Also slated to make appearances on the show next year are Adam Brody, Prince, and Damon Wayans Jr., who played Coach in the first season before Winston came back. Jess’ parents, played by Rob Reiner and Jamie Lee Curtis, will also be appearing again next year. Cardellini’s first episode is set to air in February.
Cardellini got her start on television in the Judd Apatow vehicle “Freaks and Geeks” and has had several successful roles in both television and film since then, including an Emmy-nominated turn on the last season of “Mad Men”. When asked last year whether she’d like to return to comedy, Cardellini answered without hesitation.
“Yeah, I would love to do some comedy again. It’s been a while; it would be fun to do something comedic, but at the same time it depends on the role. I loved Bridesmaids. Kristen Wiig is amazing and hilarious, and I thought Paul (Feig, creator of “Freaks and Geeks”) did an amazing job.”
