Lily Rabe, as any “American Horror Story” fan knows, plays a character obsessed with Stevie Nicks. But the actress didn’t have to look far for inspiration, because she herself is a rabid fan of the ethereal singer, and she is so excited about Nicks paying a visit to the show that she can hardly speak.
“I canāt really talk about,ā she said in a recent interview. āAnd not because Iām not allowed to talk about it. I canāt talk about it because my palms just start sweating and my heart starts racing. Iām seeing spots actually.ā
Since the introduction of Rabe’s character Misty Day this season, her love for the “Rhiannon” singer was evident. Misty, a witch with the power to resurrect the dead, brings herself back after being burned at the stake, but to a lonely fate; the young Louisiana girl is forced into hiding in a shack, where she keeps the loneliness at bay with an 8-track player and some Stevie tapes.
“Sheās obsessed with Stevie Nicks, and so am I. Isnāt it wonderful? Stevie really is her hero, her greatest inspiration and who she lives for. Itās like a love affair. Without giving much away, sheās alone for quite a period of time. Sheās a bit of a loner. Sheās isolated. Stevie is really her main relationship when we meet her again. Itās been so fantastic,” Rabe says about the newest season.
The actress says that Ryan Murphy, the show’s creator, was in touch with Nicks a while back but never held out hope that she would actually agree to an appearance.
“If I meet her, I actually think I might die on the spot. I know Ryan has been in touch with her and there are emails going around. I think I actually might just black out and die. I donāt get that crazy about a lot of people. Iām usually pretty cool, calm, and collected. But I donāt know if could behave properly. I love her so much. Sheās just a beautiful creature,” she said.
So far the details surrounding Nicks’ appearance have been shrouded in secrecy, and it sounds like Rabe won’t believe it until she sees it.
āPeople kept saying, āDo you think Stevie will come on the show?ā And I was like, āWhat?! Thatāll never happen! Of course not!ā Because thatās a sort of defense mechanism about a thing that you just really want,ā Rabe said. āItās very exciting, to say the least.ā
