The “King of Queens” actress, Leah Remini, who made headlines after publicly cutting ties with the Church of Scientology in July, has filed a missing persons report with the LAPD regarding the wife of Scientology leader David Miscavige.

“It all began when Leah questioned the validity of excommunication of people,” a source said of Remini’s decision. “She is stepping back from a regime she thinks is corrupt. She thinks no religion should tear apart a family or abuse someone under the umbrella of ‘religion.’ ” After 30 years, Remini has left the church and filed the missing persons report.

Tony Ortega discusses the orgainzation on his site, “The Underground Bunker”. According to Ortega, Shelly Miscavige has not been seen in the public in six years. Ortega’s site goes on to say that Shelly had been transferred to a “secret compound near Lake Arrowhead in the mountains above Los Angeles,” in 2006, where there are a dozen Scientologists living, “completely cut off from the outside world.”

“We can confirm that the missing person report has been taken and that’s all the information we have at this time,” the spokesperson tells “Us”.

Shelly’s attorney assures “Us” that she is “not missing.” “Any reports that she is missing are false,” the attorney stated. “Mrs. Miscavige has been working non-stop in the Church, as she always has.”

A statement from Media Relations, Church of Scientology International, released to Us on Thursday, saying, “The Los Angeles Police Department has already stated that the case is closed and that the report filed by Leah Remini was unfounded. This ill-advised, ludicrous self-promotion and the media inquiries it generated caused an inexcusable distraction for the LAPD in an era when the time and resources of its officers are stretched thin each day. Creating this unnecessary burden for law enforcement was even more irresponsible given the entire episode was nothing more than a publicity stunt for Ms. Remini, cooked up with unemployed, anti-religious zealots who blog on the fringe of the Internet. Sadly, rather than move on with her life and career, Ms. Remini has aligned herself with a handful of untrustworthy, lunatic tabloid sources who obsessively harass the Church to advance their selfish agendas.”

A Scientology representative has denied all allegations.
