Kurt Cobain committed suicide more than twenty years ago, and on Wednesday, Seattle police released photos of the suicide gun he used. This is the first time anyone not related to the investigation has seen the photos.
Page Six reports the photos were taken last June and posted to the Seattle Police Department’s website on Wednesday.

Seattle police cold case Detective Mike Ciesynski is shown holding Kurt Cobain’s gun at different angles in a total of five photos.
No one has said why photos of the gun were taken and posted to the police department’s website. Calls for comment from Page Six went unanswered on Thursday.
Kurt Cobain took his life some days before his body was found on April 8, 1984. He had taken a large dose of heroin and then killed himself with the 20-gauge shotgun.

On the 20th anniversary of Kurt Cobain’s death, Detective Mike Ciesynski reviewed the files and determined there was nothing there to lead anyone to think the grunge rocker and Nirvana front man didn’t commit suicide. Ciesynski found a few roles of film that hadn’t been developed. He developed and posted those pictures on the website at that time.
Kurt Cobain was just 27 when he died.
