Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has weighed on the Apple-Trump row, saying the company should take a tariff hit rather than move manufacturing back to the US.

President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social platform to threaten Apple with a 25% tariff on iPhones sold in the US but manufactured elsewhere.

I have long ago informed Tim Cook of Apple that I expect their iPhone’s that will be sold in the United States of America will be manufactured and built in the United States, not India, or anyplace else. If that is not the case, a Tariff of at least 25% must be paid by Apple to the U.S. Thank your for your attention to this matter!

According to Kuo, Apple should take the hit.

Kuo’s statement underscores the issues with trying to move complex electronics manufacturing to the US.
