Kristin Cavallari was devastated to learn yesterday that her missing brother, Michael Cavallari, was found dead. On Friday authorities said they believe he may have died of exposure.

The Grand County, Utah Sheriff's office said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that no drugs, alcohol, or weapons were found at the site where Michael Cavallari's body was discovered on Thursday morning. They are not investigating the case as a suicide. Sadly, investigators believe the cold weather may have been a factor in his death from hypothermia.

On Thursday, Kristin Cavallari confirmed her brother's body had been found. She issued a statement to several media outlets.

"We want to thank everyone for their love, support and prayers during this very difficult time. We have just been informed by the authorities my brother's body has been found. This is a very painful time and we are still processing it all. We kindly ask everyone please respect our privacy during our time of grieving," the statement read.

A few hours later, Kristin Cavallari shared an Instagram post of herself with her brother, when they both were very small.

"My heart is in a million pieces. Mikey, I could always count on you to make me laugh. You had such a good heart and will be forever missed. I'm at a loss for words but I know u are in a better place and finally at peace. I love u so much RIP ?" she captioned the photo.

A close friend of Michael Cavallari spoke to ET about the 30-year-old.

"Michael was very sweet. He was always very caring and loyal," the friend shared. "He was the one everyone turned to for laughs."

"He was very close with Kristin," he added of The Hills star. "He took a huge interest in his family. He was really protective of Kristin. He was the stereotypical big brother, so protective of Kristin and just really cared about his family."

Kristin Cavallari and hubby Jay Cutler had a baby girl just days before Michael went missing. How sad that she will always associate the time of her daughter's birth with this tragedy.

Fortunately Michael Cavallari didn't commit suicide, as many speculated, given his arrest prior to going missing and a witness who saw him with a shotgun. Despite the grief Kristin Cavallari and her family are experiencing, a suicide would surely have added insult to injury.
