Kris Jenner is always busy and this week has been no different!
On Wednesday, Oct. 29, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star appeared on The Dr. Oz Show to promote her new cookbook, In the Kitchen with Kris: A Kollection of Kardashian-Jenner Family Favorites.
However, cooking isn’t the only thing she and the famed cardiothoracic surgeon. She also opened up about her son, Rob.
For those who don’t know, Rob’s had a rough year. The 27-year-old reality star has been a target for media scrutiny due to his drastic weight gain.
So, when Kris was asked about how she deals with the public’s reaction Rob’s weight gain, she simply said, “everybody’s a critic,” reports US Weekly.
She went on to explain how she always taught her six children the importance of self-confidence. That life lesson was reportedly introduced when they were very young. She also touched on the relentless media scrutiny Kim suffered for her weight gain during pregnancy.
“Putting the girls and Rob, now, on magazines definitely sells them, but I taught the kids a long time ago that it starts with when they were younger,” Kris said. “I’ve tried hard to raise strong daughters and give them a sense of self-esteem.”
Although the famous family has celebrity status now, the 58-year-old matriarch also revealed her children suffered from self esteem issues just like anyone else who’s ever gone through puberty.
“They were just like other kids,” she claimed, “where it was that real chubby stage. Everybody went through it. They had braces, they were awkward. Rob was chubby and that’s when kids need you the most.”
The awkward stage is quite difficult for most children. So, Kris was asked how she helped her children prevail.
“We’re such a close family we’re always encouraging one another,” Kris said. “I think just to be a real supportive parent and tell them how much they are loved and how beautiful they are on the inside. As long as they were okay on the inside, then everything else would be gravy.”
Several media outlets have reported about Kris and Khloe’s support of Rob’s weight loss journey. So, evidently her method of supporting her children has not changed!
Rob and Khloe’s trainer, Gunnar Peterson, shared details about Rob’s weight loss progress over the summer. Evidently he’s finally on the right track!
“He’s getting it done,” Peterson said. “He works hard, and I love having him in here. He’s no stranger to the grind.”
