On Monday, September 22, Kris Jenner officially filed for divorce from her husband of 22 years, Bruce Jenner.

According to the Associated Press, Kris filed the divorce petition in Los Angeles, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason.

The divorce does not come as much as a surprise since the couple’s hardships have been prominently featured on their reality show Keeping up with the Kardashians since they separated last year.

The estranged couple announced their separation last summer. Bruce moved out of the family’s home and into a condo in Malibu. While they have been living separately for over a year, they seemed to be getting along fine, and have revealed that they were “much happier this way.”

“We are living separately and we are much happier this way,” the couple said in a statement to E! news at the time. “But we will always have much love and respect for each other. Even though we are separated, we will always remain best friends, and as always, our family will remain our No. 1 priority.”

Kris had four kids with her late husband Robert Kardashian, Kim, Khloe, Kourtney and Rob Kardashian, before they divorced in 1991. Kris and Bruce later married and had two daughters, Kendall and Kylie Jenner. In the divorce papers, Kris is seeking joint custody of their only minor child, 17-year-old Kylie.

Bruce, who also has four other children from a pervious marriage, gained his claim to fame when he won the decathlon gold medal at the 1976 summer Olympics in Montreal, Canada.
