Did she or didn’t she? Amanda Knox has already faced a highly publicized murder trial in Italy and was already sentenced to 26 years in prison.

The question is whether she murdered her roommate, Meredith Kercher and the answer is now up for trial, again, along with her friend Raffaele Sollecito.

Alessandro Crini, the prosecuting attorney claims, “Amanda Knox should be sentenced to 30 years in jail for the 2007 killing of her roommate, Meredith Kercher.”

What happened to the overturn of the murder conviction in 2011? The release of Amanda Knox from the Italian prison was front page news, and the public celebrated. But is there new evidence? And why is this prosecutor so dead set to put Knox and her friend, Sollecito in prison for Meredith’s murder?

The news is that earlier this year, Italy’s highest court approved a prosecutor’s request to void the appeals court verdict and try Knox and Sollecito again, this time, to get it right. The high court ordered a fresh appeals trial, this time in Florence, saying the earlier appeals decision was full of contradictions.

Apparently someone didn’t do their job, according to Crini, the appellate court had ‘‘pulverized the elements”,separating pieces of evidence that needed to be seen together to get a full picture of the crime.

He alleges they staged a break-in at the apartment to make it appear the killer was an outsider; he further alleges Knox cleaned up the apartment in an effort to remove any evidence linking her or Sollecito to the crime, and that she falsely accused another man of the crime.

He’s obviously convinced that Knox and Sollecito are guilty and plans to prove it in the upcoming Florence trial. The Florence court has ordered new DNA tests, something that wasn’t done previously, another flaw Crini claims, which is believed to be Amanda’s blood, not Kercher’s and to prove Amanda Knox was the killer. This evidence was previously discredited, but Knox’s lawyers see the new evidence as confirmation that she had used the knife.

Could the Italian’s have flubbed this trial as to let murderers go free – or is Crini just after “blood”?
