Klout Launches Android App After iOS App Increases Sharing

Last month, Klout launched a new iOS app, promising an Android version in the near future. Now, that version is here.

The app is, of course, based on the newer version of Klout launched in February, which turned the service into a content recommendation and sharing platform. It gives you a news feed of content that it thinks your audience will find interesting, so you can share it, and inspire engagement (which will of course improve your Klout score). You won’t get an automatic score boost from using the new Klout. The idea is just that you’ll be sharing content that is so ideal for your followers that they’ll find it interesting enough to share or comment, which could influence your score after the fact.

Here’s a look at the Android version.

It appears that mobile availability of the “new” Klout has been really helping it gain usage. The company’s James Landau writes:

Last month, we brought #NewKlout to iOS, and since then we’ve seen content creation explode. We’ve been particularly encouraged by the fact that users who share through our iOS app share twice as much as those who share through the desktop web app.

While #NewKlout in all its forms helps you discover and schedule relevant content, our mobile experience makes it particularly easy to generate personal and spontaneous content. Many of our best ideas happen while we’re on the move, exploring the world and learning new things. With Klout for iOS and Android, you can not only share these ideas instantly, but also quickly add original photos and location information, which increases the likelihood of engagement.

Future versions of the mobile apps will expand on analytics, and Klout Perks integration.
