Lupita Nyong’o won an Academy Award last night for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her heartbreaking performance as a slave in the Oscar winning film 12 Years a Slave. The exact counter part for that award, Worst Actress in a Supporting Role, was “won” by Kim Kardashian for her performance in Tyler Perry’s movie Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor.

Yes, it was the 34th Golden Raspberry Awards, commonly called The Razzies, an award which recognizes the worst performances and movies of the year. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians reality television superstar was called “vapid” and “awful” for her acting role in Perry’s film.

Critics were especially hard on Ms. Kardashian’s performance in Temptation:

“Kim Kardashian, as nasal and awful an actress as you might imagine,” The Wrap‘s Alonso Duralde complains.

“…And Kim Kardashian, as the protagonist’s b***hy fashionista coworker, vainly trying to act,” Nick Shager of Time Out says.

“Her coworker Ava is played by Kim Kardashian, a true feat of stunt casting that’s only made all the more impressive by her inability to inject the slightest bit of emotion into her steady stream of insults,” Jenni Miller of Hollywood.com says.

Director Tyler Perry disagreed with the critics. “I wrote this role, Ava, which is perfect for her – a small role that she delivered, she completely, 100% delivered, and she’s hysterical. She takes every beat and every moment, and I was proud of the work she did in the movie.”

Even still, Temptation a film about infidelity, which earned a horrible 15% on Rottentomatoes infamous TOMATOMETER, was not voted by the Razzie panel of judges as the worst film of the year. That indistinct honor went to Movie 43, a Peter Farrelly sendup, which received a horrific 4% on the TOMATOMETER despite featuring an ensemble cast of A-List talent like Kate Winslet, Hugh Jackman, and Naomi Watts.

What do you think? Was Kim Kardashian the worst actress you saw in a film last year?
