One of the PlayStation 3’s best multiplayer shooters is going free-to-play next week.
On the PlayStation Blogcast this week, Sony revealed that Killzone 3’s multiplayer will be available as a free download next week. To clarify, there is no single-player component involved in this – it’s just the multiplayer. It will be free-to-play, however, and it will be glorious.
Like all good things though, there is a catch. The free-to-play version can only take you so far as there is an unspecified level cap. If you want to get the full Killzone 3 multiplayer experience, you’re going to have to pony up $14.99. Not a bad price if you want one of the best multiplayer shooters from last year.
Personally, I would suggest any interested Killzone players pick up the full game of Killzone 3 as the campaign is the best in the series. It’s also a nice change of pace compared to the heavy hitters in the shooter scene like Call of Duty and Battlefield.
The Killzone 3 multiplayer goes live in the U.S. on Tuesday, February 28, with the regular PlayStation Store update. It will presumably go live Wednesday for UK gamers with their store update.
