Many actresses struggle with the decision of whether they should or should not have plastic surgery. Some see plastic surgery as a way to save their youth and prolong their careers. Others are happy to age gracefully.
Keira Knightley recently shared her feelings about the issue and said that although she doesn’t think she will ever have plastic surgery herself, she understands why many people do choose to get it.
“There’s a huge pressure on women to look good, and I’m not just talking about actresses but women in general,” she told Britain’s the Daily Mail.
“But I don’t think I would ever condemn any woman for doing something that made her feel better about herself. If suddenly she’s feeling like she’s the most disgusting thing in the world and that’s what she wants to do and that makes her happier, then I think she should be free to do what makes her feel better in her own body, her own skin and own mind,” the actress said.
“Surgery for myself? I hope I don’t. I don’t plan to. But who knows?” she added.
Keira said that she is happy with the way she looks and although she has been criticized for her thin stature, she is comfortable in her skin.
She said that she has been accused of being anorexic, which is something she takes very seriously. She said that she has had family members and friends who have suffered from anorexia and she knows how devastating it can be.
“They said to me, ‘How does it feel to be called anorexic?’ and I had no idea that I was. I can safely say that I’m not,” she said to Express, adding that, “I’ve got a lot of experience with anorexia — my grandmother and great-grandmother suffered from it, and I had a lot of friends at school who suffered from it, so I know it’s not something to be taken lightly and I don’t.”

Keira has denied being anorexic for years but says that she doesn’t let rumors and lies bother her anymore and is focused on being happy. She said that all women should feel confident with who they are and how they look.
