Kelly Preston and John Travolta paid a visit to David Letterman on The Late Show to say farewell to David and to promote Travolta’s new movie, The Forger.
While John Travolta was the main guest, his wife, Kelly Preston, waited backstage with their youngest son, Ben, who is four.
Kelly Preston’s presence wasn’t known until John Travolta began to tell a story about a visit to Toys “R” Us with Ben, during which Travolta was swarmed by autograph-seeking fans.
Travolta said he wasn’t sure Ben understood why the people were swarming him.
He said, “I said, ‘Why are all these people wanting my photograph?’ I didn’t know if he knew I was in films or not. He said, ‘Well, maybe they saw one of your movies!'”

He continued his story about his and Kelly Preston’s son, saying, “Then he said, ‘I wanna work with you. And so tonight, later, maybe, he could come on and say hi to you if it’s okay… If you allow him to.”
Of course, David Letterman was a great sport and said, “Bring him out now! Where’s the kid? Bring the kid out!”
“The kid” was found with mother Kelly Preston backstage as the cameras panned to where they were standing.
Ben appeared quite nervous as he clung to Kelly Preston and seemed to have no desire to let go of her.
Then, as soon as Kelly Preston put him down, Ben proceeded to run offstage.
So cute. So much for a grand debut! Perhaps Ben won’t follow in John Travolta or Kelly Preston’s footsteps, after all!
Did you see Monday’s episode? What did you think of Ben’s TV debut?
