Kellie Pickler is joining Amy Grant as an Athena Warrior for breast cancer awareness.

The American Idol alum is set to participate in Athena Water's "Eat. Drink. Party Pink." event in Nashville on September 30th.

The event is held in order to raise awareness about the debilitating disease.

Kellie Pickler and Amy Grant will lend their voices and powerful lyrics to the Athena Warriors event, which will kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Kellie Pickler is no stranger to the effects of cancer on a family.

She said, “Breast cancer really hit close to home for me when my ‘big sis,’ Summer, was diagnosed at such an early age,”

Kellie Pickler continued, “I’m happy to say she is now cancer-free. But so many other women continue to have to fight this disease, and even more may not know they need to be aware of earlier detection than previously thought. That’s why I’m excited to be an Athena Warrior... I want to help raise awareness so we can find a cure.”

Amy Grant is also quite excited to be joining Kellie Pickler in raising Breast Cancer awareness.

She said, "I am happy to serve as an Athena Warrior again this year and donate proceeds from this song to the American Cancer Society,"

Grant continued, "We all know someone who has suffered from this terrible disease, and I encourage everyone to do what they can to help raise awareness and funds for research.”

Sounds like a great night for a great cause! Kellie Pickler is not new to supporting a good cause. The country music starlet joined the "Every Moment Counts" campaign and spent her Christmas in Afghanistan last year to perform for US troops.

Kellie Pickler said of her experience, “The USO tours and programs I've been a part of have definitely been the highlight of my career, so I'm honored to join the USO in helping to raise awareness about the many precious moments that our troops and their families sacrifice due to their commitment and service to our country,"

Good luck to Kellie Pickler and the rest of the Athena Warriors. Hopefully this event will be successful in raising awareness of breast cancer.
