Police announced on Wednesday that the remains of a woman soldier that had been missing for two years were recently found.
23-year-old Fort Bragg-based Pfc. Kelli Bordeaux was last seen outside of the Froggy Bottoms bar on Ramsey Street in Fayetteville, N.C. in April 2012.
The young woman had spent the evening socializing, drinking, and singing karaoke. Her vanishing was a disturbing mystery to her family and the Fayetteville community.
Col. Christian Karsner is the chief of staff at Task Force Bragg. Karsner said in a statement, “We are deeply saddened that the discovery of the apparent remains of Army Spc. Kelli Bordeaux now concludes our final hopes of her returning safely.”
Lt. Col Heather A. Kness, Bordeaux’s battalion commander, said the following in a statement:
She and her family have remained close in our hearts since Kelli last stood in our formation in April 2012. We honor her memory and will always remember her vibrant spirit, her love of life and her loyal and dedicated service to our Army and nation as a combat medic.
