Katy Perry, Madonna, and Lady Gaga all appeared at the Met Gala on Monday and posed for a photo together despite the event’s rules about cell phones. Today, the photo is making its way around the web as fans try to decipher the caption.

Perry posted the pic to her Instagram account, writing, “Dropping our single tomorrow”. The photo didn’t quite break the internet, but hopeful fans who have been waiting for just such an announcement took to social media to talk it out. Unfortunately for them, it appears Perry was just being facetious. However, the photo itself is still being held up as a history-making moment as fans of all three women celebrate an image of such huge stars spending time together.

There have been rumors of a feud between all three women in recent months, with some saying Madonna and Gaga had a beef over the song “Born This Way” and its similarity to “Express Yourself”. Earlier this year, word got around that Perry and Gaga had some issue after one of Perry’s tweets was said to be about Gaga’s song “Alejandro”. All three have spoken out against the stories, saying that people like to make up drama between women where there is none.

Perry, Gaga and Madonna have all been rumored to have ongoing feuds with one another, and Perry has also been implicated in a feud with Taylor Swift after a Rolling Stone interview in which Swift talked about another artist who tried to hire her backup dancers away from her.

“For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?’” Then last year, the other star crossed a line. “She did something so horrible. I was like, ‘Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies.’ And it wasn’t even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. And I’m surprisingly non-confrontational – you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It’s awkward, and I don’t like it.”

Swift later said that she wouldn’t give the media any more fuel and refuses to talk about Katy Perry when asked.
