  • Kathy Griffin hosted the funniest slumber party ever this weekend. How could it not be when Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappelle, and Arsenio Hall comprised the guest list? Whether they truly spent the night or not is known only to Kathy Griffin and her guests. The gang came together to watch Tracy Morgan’s return to TV as he hosted SNL on Saturday night.

Kathy Griffin dished about her comic’s night on the red carpet at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., before the taping of the 18th Annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. This year’s recipient, Eddie Murphy, was a blast to hang out with the night before.

“We were watching Tracy host SNL and [Dave] Chappelle was in there, and Arsenio [Hall] was there, and it just was so much fun. I was in comedy heaven,” Griffin said.

They “were arguing, laughing, and pitching jokes–and talking about serious things,” she added.

Kathy Griffin made fun of Eddie Murphy’s attire for her slumber party.

“Eddie was in an Adidas track suit. I was like, ‘Alright LL Cool J, where’s your Kangol?'” she said. “And Chappelle was in a suit, which is weird.”

Kathy Griffin knows that even though her night with her comic friends was a special one, that Tracy Morgan’s night was even more special.

“He said a lot of the crew guys during the week, they would have…like a tear coming down their faces,” she said. “And it wasn’t until the show was over that they all would hug him and be like, ‘We knew you could do it.'”

A tragic highway crash last year left Tracy Morgan with serious injuries. He was in a coma for a while.

Wouldn’t you have loved an invite to Kathy Griffin’s slumber party on Saturday night–whether it was, in fact, a sleepover or not? Can you even imagine being the presence of such comedy greats–all at the same time?
