It looks like Kate Gosselin and her eight children may make a reappearance on TLC this coming June.
The network plans to air a one-night special of the Kate Plus 8 reality stars.
We were first introduced to Gosselin and her massive family during the original 2007 TV show Jon & Kate Plus 8, which also featured her former husband Jon Gosselin. After their split and divorce two years later, she went on to land a solo reality show in 2010.
However, a network rep told People in 2011 that they decided not to renew Gosselin’s contract:
“By the end of this season Kate Plus 8 will have hit the 150 episode mark (including Jon&Kate Plus 8); an exceptional milestone. TLC hopes to check in with Kate and the family periodically with specials in the future.”
It seems like TLC kept their promise.
Since the show’s cancelation, the Gosselin children have matured tremendously. The twins, Mady and Cara, are now 13-year-old teenagers. The sextuplets-Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah, and Joel-are also now nine years old.
TLC network says that the special will be an update on the children and their experience growing up in the spotlight. Gosselin’s current career will also be highlighted.
Gosselin has reportedly been unemployed for some time. The former nurse said in a recent interview that she has been making ends meet through other business ventures.
Apparently, Gosselin adores the fame she receives and highly depends on it as reliable income. Her ex-husband has previously expressed how reality TV has negative developmental effects on their children.
Jon told Philadelphia Magazine in December, “Kate wants to still be on television. She’s now digging into the past, because that’s what sells. Too late, honey. No one gives a f***, really.”
Do you think that Kate Plus 8 should return to showbiz, even if it’s for one night?
